Each month, the Riviera Camera Club holds an in-house competition, judged by a photographer from outside of the club. Photos are submitted as prints, on 16"x20" matboard.

Judges will be instructed to critique images and grant awards based on the following standards. There will be no place rankings; instead, each image will be evaluated on its own merit. Multiple awards of any of the following may be granted.

Artistic treatment includes creativity, mood, and impact. Technical treatment refers to focus, exposure, and lighting appropriate to the subject.

Merit Image: Good artistic and technical treatment, but with flaws. Deserving of recognition.
Special Merit Image: Exemplary but not perfect artistic and technical treatment; only very minor flaws. Stands out as one of the best images in a group.
Honor Image: Flawless technical and artistic treatment. Outstanding among the best images in a group.
Memorable Image: Extraordinary impact. Among the best images the judge has seen in any setting or competition — an image one keeps coming back to. This judgment is reserved for the very few creations of something different. The Memorable award will not be granted if the judge believes that no entry meets the description provided.

Entry Rules for RCC Competition

The following rules apply to RCC internal competition. Entries in Outreach competition are determined by the sponsoring organization. However, rule #1 applies to both internal and Outreach competition.

All entries are due at the meeting prior to the date when the judging report is presented.
